DCF77

DCF77 is the long wave broadcaster of the Physikalisch-Technischen Bundesanstalt (the Federal Office of Technical Physics) in Germany near Frankfurt. The transmitter transmits THE correct time in Germany.

Range

The transmitter has a range of approx. 1000 kilometers. The signal can be received over most of Europe. The image below illustrates this nicely. Note that the range is not absolute. Apparently reflection in the upper atmosphere might extend the range.
